Miss Anya's Speech Therapy Resource Room
Welcome! I have worked as a speech-language pathologist for over 10 years in private practice, public and nonpublic schools. I am also particularly interested in how individuals learn and the intersection of neuroscience and education. In addition to being a speech-language pathologist, I am also an Assistive Technology/AAC Specialist. After receiving my Assistive Technology certificate, I worked with the California Department of Education to ensure these services were added to our school's certification. Assistive Technology has proven very effective for our students with impacted language and communication needs as well as those struggling with literacy. "For most, technology makes things easier. For a person with a disability, it makes things possible." - Judy Heuman
The following is my philosophy:
Believe relationship building before anything
Passionate about making learning engaging and accessible and for ALL
Autism is not a disability that needs to be cured but a culture that needs to be embraced, cultivated and supported
Using evidence-based treatment approaches to guide my practice
Literacy is not a privilege for a select few but a right for ALL
An individual can do anything with the appropriate individualized supports provided for them
Constant collaboration with the students, IEP teams and family are integral in shaping positive outcomes
Inclusion - in and out of classrooms - for all
Philosophy drives practice
We can always improve
